Hire your first folk
Pick an engine, a folder, and a working style.
Before you start
Install and sign in to at least one supported engine CLI. OpenFolks detects engines during onboarding and again from Settings → Engines.
Create the folk
- Select New in the sidebar.
- Choose New folk.
- Give it a name and a job.
- Select its engine and model.
- Choose a working folder if it should edit files or sit in a repository.
The folder is the folk's starting context. It also keeps edits from wandering into the rest of the disk. Use a dedicated project folder for code, research, or writing.
First brief
Ask for a concrete outcome and the constraints that matter:
Review this project, run the tests, and explain the three highest-impact issues.
Do not change files yet. Link each finding to the relevant file.Once you trust the diagnosis, ask it to implement. Keep review and mutation as two steps you can check.
Tune the folk
Open the Folk profile to change name, avatar, instructions, engine, model, working folder, and computer. Different folks can use different engines and folders at the same time.
Sign-in belongs to the CLI
OpenFolks launches tools you installed. A 401 or a sign-in prompt means finish that engine's own login, then refresh detection in Settings.
